The Iranian Cultural Week Kicked off on Wednesday’s evening in cooperation between the Syrian Ministry of Culture and the Iranian Chancellery which events will last till next Monday in Khan Ass’d Basha in Damascus.
The events of included holding cultural seminars on Iranian civilization and culture, cinema shows, concerts, book shows and plastic art exhibitions, and introducing Iranian cuisine.
The Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mushawah, indicated at the inauguration that “Syria and Iran are the makers of civilization, and they both are aware of the greatness of the legacy and cultural achievement of the other country, and that accessing through the gateway to cultural work brings them closer, highlights their common cultural denominators, and constitute one of the main pillars to enhance their acquaintance, rapprochement and cooperation in a way that rises to the level of our two countries’ political relations”.
For his part, the head of the Iranian Islamic Culture and Relations Association, Dr. Muhammad Mahdi Imanipour, said that “Syria and Iran have always, since the ancient times, stood by each other. This was attested during the war against in which Syria stood, under the leadership of the immortal leader Hafez al-Assad, alongside the Iranian people, as well during the recent cosmic conspiracy on Syria, these relations witnessed a constatnt Iranian official and popular stance with the Syria.
The Iranian ambassador in Damascus, Mahdi Sobhani, said that “the developments that took place during the last decades highlighted the cultural role in developing international relations and foreign policy between both”, considering “the culture element as a major determinant of foreign policy, and the language of culture is the diplomatic language that achieves peace, security, tranquility and well-being for peoples”.
